Deputy chief of Saratov police renders paid services to migrants
Aleksey Lupanov, who is accused of bribery, has become a defendant in a new criminal case.
Deputy Head of the Department of Migration from the Police Department No. 5 in the Oktyabrsky district, Saratov, Aleksey Lupanov, has become a defendant in the second criminal case. This is reported by the regional ICR's press service.
The investigation believes that Lupanov received 10 thousand rubles ($154) from a foreign citizen for registering her at the address where she was not going to live. After that, the police officer instructed a subordinate inspector to register the citizen in Lupanov’s dwelling.
Thus, Fictitious Registration of a Foreign Citizen (Art. 322.3 of the Russian Criminal Code) was added to the criminal case of Bribe-Taking (part 1 of Art. 291.2).
Previously, Lupanov was detained by FSB officers for demanding a bribe of 220 thousand rubles ($3,399) for the registration of a migrant and his family at a place of residence. In total, the police officer received 40 thousand rubles ($618), and then he was caught. A criminal case of Bribery on a Large Scale was initiated following the incident (item ‘c’ part 5 of Art. 290).
In turn, the MIA Regional Directorate stated that if the fault of the employee was confirmed, he would be dismissed from the internal affairs bodies and punished in accordance with applicable law.
