Defendant in corruption's case in JSC Vorkutaugol committed suicide in jail
The incident occurred at the end of December 2016.
Accused of receiving a large bribe in the framework of corruption’s case in JSC Vorkutaugol, Head of the Vorkuta State Labour Inspectorate Division Petr Gilz committed suicide in the pre-trial detention center, Komiinform reports. These data is confirmed by the press service of the Investigative Management of the ICR in Komi.
According to the regional newspaper, the incident occurred at the end of December 2016. The Gilz's body with signs of suicide was found in the cell of the detention facility. The Investigative Committee is checking this fact.
As the CrimeRussia previously reported, the ID ICR in the Komi Republic opened a criminal case against Head of the echorsky's Rostechnadzor Alexander Goncharenko, Head of the Department of the Vorkuta Labor State Inspection in the Komi Republic Petr Gilz and commander of the paramilitary rescue Leonid Lobkov. They are suspected of Bribe-Taking on an especially large scale (parts 5, 6 of Art.290 Criminal Code) for connivance in the service during inspections of Vorkutaugol's enterprises. Suspects received bribes from 2014 to 2016. Investigators believe that Gilz earned not less than 1 million rubles. Note that Goncharenko admitted his guilt and confessed, Gilz and Lobkov denied their guilt.
