Court arrested property of Chelyabinsk region ex-Head for $53m

The District Court of Chelyabinsk satisfied the petition of the investigation and seized property of ex-Governor of the Chelyabinsk region Mikhail Yurevich for the sum of more than 3 billion rubles ($53m), Interfax reports with the reference to representative of the Central regional court of Chelyabinsk Natalya Prokhorova.
According to her, the judgment has not taken legal effect yet and can be appealed. According to investigators, the ex-governor of the Chelyabinsk Region possesses eight accounts in four banks, an apartment, a garage, a parking space and a land plot.
As the CrimeRussia wrote earlier, in May Mikhail Yurevich was arrested in absentia and put on the international wanted list. He is incriminated Bribe-Taking (part 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and Instigation to Slander (part 4 of Art. 33 and part 2 of Art. 128.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to case papers, Yurevich, being the Head of Chelyabinsk region (from 2010 to 2014), has been systematically getting bribes for a general protection from his subordinate － Minister of Health of the region Vitaly Teslenko (in 2014 he was sentenced to seven years also for bribes for 70 million rubles), which total amount has made 26 million rubles. Besides, according to the Investigative Committee of Russia, at the suggestion of Yurevich a TV-program with slander against ex-chairman of the Chelyabinsk Regional Court Fedor Vyatkin was broadcasted on Channel One. Also, according to investigators, during the work on the Governor's post Yurevich was getting from businessmen of the Chelyabinsk Region bribes on an especially large scale on the sum not less than 3.4 billion rubles ($60m). On the last episode persons involved are also the mother-in-law of the deputy of the State Duma Vadim Belousov, business partner of Yurevich Margarita Butakova, and also the assistant to the parliamentarian Andrey Churkin. Butakova and Churkin are incriminated mediation by transfer of a bribe.
Yurevich denies his fault. Now he is abroad. His protection claims that he can not appear before the court for interrogation for health reasons.
The former senior inspector of the second special regiment of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate’s Road Patrol Service demanded 250 thousand rubles from a driver for not bringing him to administrative responsibility.
