Court arrested in absentia two defendants in FSB Colonel Cherkalin case
Former members of the board of Evrofinance Mosnarbank Vladimir Stolyarenko and Alexander Bondarenko are accused of fraud on an especially large scale and complicity in it.
Moscow Garrison Military Court arrested in absentia former members of the board of Evrofinance Mosnarbank Vladimir Stolyarenko and Alexander Bondarenko, accused in a case of fraud involving employees of the Banking Department of the K Directorate of the Economic Security Service (SEB) of the FSB, according to RIA Novosti.
Stolyarenko is charged with Swindling on an especially large scale (part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), and Bondarenko is charged with complicity in it. The petition for the arrest of bankers in absentia was granted on July 10. Both defendants were put on the international wanted list.
Stolyarenko and Bondarenko are named in a case of the theft of 490 million rubles ($7.7 m) from businessman Sergey Glyadelkin in 2011. The case also involves the Head of the 2nd Division of the Directorate K of FSB SEB, Colonel Kirill Cherkalin, his predecessor in the same post, Dmitry Frolov, and operative Andrey Vasilyev. According to investigators, the FSB officers, threatening with criminal prosecution, forced Glyadelkin to hand over shares of Yurpromconsulting to them.
The bankers are associated with Darth Vader Enterprices Limited, a Cyprus offshore company, to which the assets taken away from Glyadelkin by the FSB officers went.
Cherkalin, Frolov and Vasilyev were arrested in April 2019. During the search of Cherkalin's home, at least 10 bags with 12 billion rubles ($190.7 m) were found.
