Court arrested father of Colonel Dmitry Zakharchenko
Viktor Zakharchenko is accused of embezzlement in a particularly large amount, the court said.
The Moscow Basmanny Court authorized the arrest of the father of Anti-Corruption Department of the Russian Interior Ministry (UEBiPK) former Deputy Head Dmitry Zakharchenko - Viktor Zakharchenko. This was reported to journalists on Tuesday, April 18, by press secretary of the court Yunona Tsareva.
According to her, the corresponding decision was made on March 31, 2017. She clarified that Viktor Zakharchenko was detained until 30 May and charged under part 4 of Art. 160 of the Criminal Code (Embezzlement committed on an especially large scale).
As the CrimeRussia wrote, the investigation found three apartments at elite Moscow residential complexes and two garages at members of Zakharchenko's family.
Earlier it was reported that members of the family owned several luxury apartments in the elite Moscow residential complexes Piramida, Imperial House and Shuvalovsky with a total value of up to 1 billion rubles ($17.8m), a fleet of elite SUVs totalling to 25 million rubles ($446.500) and real estate in the Rostov region.
In the name of Zakharchenko's father, 65-year-old retired Viktor, several accounts in Swiss banks have been opened with a total amount of 300 million euros. He also owns several properties in Spain and Switzerland.
Recall, the Acting Head of the UEBiPK Department T was detained on September 9 by the FSB. During a search in his car and his sister's apartment, a cash currency of 8.5 billion rubles ($151.8m) was found. Dmitry Zakharchenko is charged under three articles of the Criminal Code - 285 (Abuse of Official Powers), 290 (Bribe-Taking) and 294 (Obstruction of the of Justice).
