Chief of Serpukhov Criminal Investigation arrested for bribery

After the recent high-profile accident with two victims, committed by a drunken inquiry officer of the Serpukhovskoe MIA Intermunicipal Department, the police of the Moscow suburb is once again in the middle of a major scandal.

Officers of the MIA Internal Security Department in the Moscow region have detained Chief of the Serpukhov Criminal Investigation Department Pershin.

It is known that a forensic expert of the Serpukhovskoe MIA Intermunicipal Department has also been detained. As reported by Glazey.info online news agency, his second name is to be specified. Both police officers are suspected of bribe-taking.

A source in the MIA Internal Security Department in the Moscow region told that development in this case took two month; operational activities have not been completed yet. As stressed by the Glazey.info's source in the Internal Security Department for the Moscow region, Pershin had been a contender for promotion and was to lead the city police, but the ISD did not approve his candidacy.

According to the news agency citing its source, Chief of Serpukhovskoe MIA Intermunicipal Department Colonel Valery Puchkov himself is under cultivation of the Internal Security Department, however, other local media outlets do not confirm this information.

It should be noted that theSerpukhovskoe MIA Intermunicipal Department found itself in the middle of a scandal a week ago after an officer of the Department of Initial Investigation Anastasiya Bulgakova caused an accident with victims while heavily intoxicated. As a result of traffic rules violation by Bulgakova and driving into two pedestrians, 47-year-old spouses and Serpukhov locals died on the spot. A criminal case under part 6 of Art. 264 of the Russian Criminal Code has been initiated against Bulgakova. Her immediate supervisor, the Head of the Department of Initial Investigation at Serpukhovskoe MIA Intermunicipal Department, has been dismissed from the internal affairs.
