Charge on bribe dismissed from former Head of Komi Gaizer
However, the former Governor is still accused of organization of criminal community and swindle.
Charge in bribe giving to former Head of the Syktyvkar Administration Roman Zenishchev is dismissed from former Head of Komi Vyacheslav Gaizer, declared the official's lawyer Vyacheslav Leontyev in a conversation with Interfax.
Criminal prosecution of Gaizer on this episode is stopped, Leontyev emphasized.
Earlier, on January 27 the Investigative Committee of Russia (ICR) declared completion of investigation of criminal case concerning Gaizer and his 15 expected accomplices.
As the investigation assumes, Gaizer's group committed crimes for the purpose of receipt of the highly profitable entities of the Komi Republic or establishment of control over them for illegal enrichment. Detention of Gaizer and his accomplices happened in the fall of 2015. Soon after by decision of court Gaizer and the former officials from administration of the republic were sent to the pre-trial detention center.
Corruption is overwhelming in the Republic of Bashkortostan. It infiltrates all branches of power. What officials have sullied their reputation with bribe-taking and are going to fall victims to yet another sweeping purge? What are millions of rubles paid for? What is the true scale of corruption in the region – champion among national republics by that parameter?
