Belgorod region: Two MIA OEBiPK officers arrested for bribery
In the Belgorod region, two employees of the Department for Economic Security and Combatting the Corruption were caught on a large bribe.
In the city of Gubkin, two police officers from the MIA Department for Economic Security and Combatting the Corruption were caught on a large bribe. A criminal case under item a and с part 5 of Art. 290 (Bribe-taking on an especially large scale, bribe-taking by a group of persons on a large scale) of the Russian Criminal Code has been initiated against them.
The investigative bodies found that June 6, a head of one of the city's enterprises and his business partner gave 150 thousand rubles ($2,629) and a copying machine worth 12 thousand rubles ($210) to policemen as 'gratitude' for the decision to refuse to initiate a criminal case.
The crime was revealed by the FSB officers in conjunction with colleagues from the regional department of the MIA Internal Security.
Detention has been elected as a preventive measure for both policemen. If their guilt is proven, both of them will be dismissed from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and brought to justice in accordance with the current legislation. In addition, their bosses will also be brought to disciplinary responsibility.
Ismail Efendiev is suspected of exceeding authority in connection with the investigation of cases of detained earlier former First Deputy Prime Minister Ramazan Aliyev and nephew of the former head of Dagestan Askhabali Abdulatipov. Searches are being conducted at Efendiev's office and house.
