Bastrykin initiates criminal case against Kazan’s district court judge
The suspect allegedly received a bribe from a lawyer for allowing his appeal.
The ICR chairman Alexander Bastrykin initiated a criminal case on mediation in bribery (part 2 of Article 291.1 CCRF) against the judge of Kazan’s Novo-Savinovsky District Court, Marina Firsova, 42, the ICR’s press service reports. The investigation is conducted by the ICR’s Investigative Directorate for the Republic of Tatarstan.
According to the investigators, in May 2017, Firsova transferred to at least 50,000 rubles ($ 800) to unidentified officials for allowing an appeal against an earlier decision of a magistrate court. The suspect allegedly received the money from lawyer Yulia Khalikova, who acted in the interests of a friend. As a result, the appeal was allowed.
