Bashkortostan: head of the Emergency Situations Department detained for bribe in form of log house
The official received the gift for concealing the violations he discovered in the operation of educational institutions.
Law enforcement agencies of Bashkiria detained the 34-year-old chief of the Beloretsk Inter-District Department for Supervision of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for taking a bribe in the form of a log house worth 175,000 rubles ($ 2,700). For this, the official promised to conceal the violations he had revealed at one of the enterprises in the Burzyan District, the press service of the regional ICR’s Directorate reports.
According to investigators, the parties agreed to transfer the bribe in July 2018, and the transfer took place in February 2019. A criminal case of bribe-taking was initated against the detainee (para. 5 of Article 290 CCRF).
General’s son Mikhail Sal’nikov, Professor of the Department of Theory of Government and Law at the St. Petersburg University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Russian Federation, has been detained for real estate fraud. Amid other corruption crimes hitting the headlines, this offense does not seem a high-profile one. But the point is that this is not the first criminal case instituted against professor Sal’nikov, and he is not the only relative of MIA general Viktor Sal’nikov having problems with the law.
