Bashkortostan: criminal case initiated against Lieutenant-Colonel of Traffic Police for having fake diploma

The policeman received a document on graduation from the university frim which he was expelled.

Retired traffic police Lieutenant-Colonel Rasim Khasanov from the Republic of Bashkortostan was accused of using a fake diploma of higher education (part 3 of Article 327 CCRF), the regional Prosecutor’s Office reported. The ex-policeman pleaded innocent. The case will be heard in the Leninsky District Court of Ufa.

According to investigators, in 1998 Khasanov bought a diploma of the Bashkir State Agrarian Institute, from which he was actually expelled for academic debts. The diploma was needed to obtain a lieutenant rank and further promotion. On the basis of the fake document, Khasanov obtained the second degree in absentia from the law faculty of the Ufa Law Institute of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

At the end of 2018, the forgery was exposed by employees of the MIA’s Internal Security Department, when Khasanov had already retired due to seniority.
