Baltic customs to be checked on Bastrykin's order after revealing system of bribes
At a reception at the chairman of the Investigative Committee, a St. Petersburg businessman told about the extortion of regular bribes by customs officers.
The Investigation Committee announced a large-scale audit of the Baltic Customs after one of the businessmen in the region announced at a personal reception at the chairman of the ICR Alexander Bastrykin about major bribes in this organization.
On June 28, the head of the ICR received citizens in St. Petersburg. After that, checks will be initiated on several reports from Petersburgers.
Thus, an entrepreneur from St. Petersburg said that he, as a representative of a commercial organization engaged in the transit of goods across the border. At the Baltic Customs, he was demanded a monthly payment for the vague promise of general patronage.
Bastrykin gave the order to deal with "all the circumstances" in this case.
Representatives of the Baltic Customs did not comment on the press in connection with the scandalous news. This was not done by its head, Major General Sergey Senko, either.
The Baltic Customs includes key posts for servicing ships – Kronstadt, Turukhtanny, Shkipersky, Lesnoy port, Gavan', Bronka, and the center of electronic declaration.
