Astrakhan: Mayor of Kamyzyak and district head detained in bribery case
The security forces have not yet given an official comment on the detention.
The mayor of the Astrakhan city of Kamyzyak, Dmitry Vasilyev, and the head of the Kamyzyak district, Vladimir Sukhorukov, were detained red-handed while receiving large bribes from local entrepreneurs. The operation took place in Astrakhan, Interfax-South reports this.
“Today, security forces officers detained the head of the Kamyzyak district, Vladimir Sukhorukov, and the mayor of Kamyzyak, Dmitry Vasilyev, red-handed while receiving large bribes,” said the agency’s source.
Security agencies have not given official information regarding the detention yet.
Vasilyev became the head of the city in 2013. Before that, he was an executive director of Astrakhankomplekt LLC. Sukhorukov has been heading the district since 2014.
Mass protest rallies have been taking place in Moscow on a regular basis since the beginning of this summer. People are protesting for lots of different reasons. However, the reaction of the law enforcement authorities is always the same: repression. What is the reason behind the brutality shown during the dispersion of mass rallies?
