Altai region: Former Road Construction and Repair Department head convicted of bribe-taking
Head of the Road Construction and Repair Department lied to Altaiavtodor.
Former Head of the Road Construction and Repair Department Sergey Antipov faced trial. He had been caught taking a bribe.
Court and investigators determined that an entrepreneur asked the Smolensky Road Construction & Repair Department Head to asphalt a road section next to Altaiavtodor shop and office, according to the Russian Investigative Committee Altai Krai Office of Investigations’ website. Sergey Antipov illegally asked for 100,000 rubles for the work. The entrepreneur accepted the terms.
This gave the Department a nominal reason to take the money from Altaiavtodor. The Company received it from the Krai budget as a compensation for expenses the Department should have incurred when fixing the road. In reality, the Department did not incur such expenses.
Court convicted the defendant of taking a bribe. He was given a 3.5 year suspended sentence and fined for 4 million rubles.
