Oleg Guzhvinsky was detained after a smashing meeting with the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Southern Federal District.

Astrakhan law enforcers have detained Acting Minister of Minister of Construction and Housing of the region, Oleg Guzhvinsky. This is reported by Interfax-Yug referring to a source.

According to the source, the official was detained “on the subject of emergency housing.” The information about Guzhvinsky’s detention has not been officially confirmed neither by the FSB nor by the Investigative Committee. There has be no comment from the official’s representatives.

It is noteworthy that on July 16, Prosecutor General of the Southern Federal District, Andrey Kikot, criticized the work of the regional ministry of housing and communal services at an interdepartmental meeting in Astrakhan, calling the “abuse of officials and lack of conscientiousness in contractors” the main causes of problems with the relocation of people from emergency housing in the region.

In particular, residents of the region complained about the quality of housing for immigrants. Acting Governor of the region, Igor Babushkin, was also present at the meeting. Appealing to officials, Kikot demanded to “change the whole system of work related to resettlement from emergency housing and to bring to justice all the officials responsible.”

“A procedural check will be carried out. How did you even accept these houses into service? The embezzlement of money is clearly seen, people have lived in terrible conditions for two years,” the deputy prosecutor general said.
