12 policemen from Kabardino-Balkaria arrested in case of alcohol transportation
The deputy head of the republican Traffic Police Department is among the suspects.
Yessentuki’s court took 12 policemen, who are accused of taking bribes in the amount of 42 million rubles ($ 640,000) for ignoring the illegal transportation of alcohol through the territory of Kabardino-Balkaria, into custody for two months. The deputy head of the republican Traffic Police Department also came under investigation. One of the defendants in the case is on the run, the court’s press service reports.
The officers were detained at the end of May. Investigators initiated criminal cases over organization and participation in a criminal community using official position (part 3 of Article 210 CCRF) and bribe-taking (part 6 of Article 290 CCRF). According to investigators, the alcohol was delivered to areas of the republic, passing along the federal highway R-217 “Caucasus” and through the Malka checkpoint.
