Video: detention of persons suspected of murdering Shabtay Kalmanovich
Ali Belkhoroev and Batyr Tumgoev have been detained on board of a plane.
REN TV has published a video of the men suspected of murdering the owner of Spartak women's basketball club and entrepreneur Shabtay Kalmanovich in 2009 being detained. Ali Belkhoroev and Batyr Tumgoev were detained right on board of a plane in one of Moscow airports.
At the moment, they have been charged and placed in custody. Previously, they were already prosecuted for crimes of varying severity.
Since 2000, the defendants have repeatedly come to the attention of law enforcement bodies. They were suspected of robberies and thefts of elite car owners. They are currently being checked for involvement in other crimes.
Shabtay Kalmanovich was shot on November 2, 2009. Around 20 bullets were fired at the Russian-Israeli businessman’s car. The assassins were wanted until 2011; later, the investigation was suspended. It was resumed only in 2018.
Presumably, it concerns the US response to Ukraine’s help in the investigation against Joseph Biden, Trump’s main rival in the 2020 presidential election, who allegedly was in collusion with Kiev during the previous campaign.
