Oldest football player and former head of Gazprom’s offspring evaded investigation
Vladimir Tumaev is wanted on charges of having organized the assassination attempt.
Member of Board of Directors of Gazprom’s offspring and former Gazavtotrans CEO Vladimir Tumaev evaded from house arrest which was a reason to put him on a federal wanted list. It was reported by the media-office of the Office of Investigations of Russia’s Investigation Committee in the Republic of Udmurtia.
Tumaev is accused of an organization of the assassination attempt on his business-partner Vadim Styazhkin’s life. On September 11, the Izhevsk Court is about to consider extending a precautionary measure for Tumaev, however, the Investigation Committee believes that he left the city in his car on September 1 or 2. It is also noted that the former head of Gazprom’s offspring did not notify the Committee about his plans.
“At present, we take steps to establish his whereabouts, detain him and take back to the territory of the Republic.” The Investigation Committee added.
It is possible that the Court will impose stiffer penalties due to the new circumstances, and Tumaev is going to be put in custody. In particular, Kommersant daily states that the prosecution is preparing such applications.
A new criminal defendant’s lawyer Anton Baranov said to Kommersant daily that all the supervisory authorities in Moscow and Izhevsk were notified of the fact that Tumaev left the city.
“I do have papers marked by all the relevant authorities. I just can’t think of why Tumaev is put on a federal wanted list!” Baranov commented upon the situation. He clarified that his client left for Moscow to get his eye surgery in the Fyodorov Eye Microsurgery Complex on September 5. “It seems that the surgery was a success. However, there were some complications mainly due to age. He is monitored by doctors. When we’re going to get back is not yet known.” Anton Baranov added.
At the time of publication, it was reported that Vladimir Tumaev was found in the Fyodorov Eye Microsurgery Complex by the law enforcement officials, however - upon preliminary information - he was not detained.
It is to be recalled that Vladimir Tumaev is charged with an organization of the assassination attempt committed by a group of persons acting in the conspiracy (part 3 of Article 33, part 3 of Article 30, part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) on August 21, 2018. He is under arrest till September 12.
The version given by the investigation is that the former football player arranged an attempt on his business-partner Vadim Styazhkin’s life. The incident occurred on March 15, 2017. Two unknown persons shot at Vadim Styazhkin out of a nonlethal pistol in the entrance to his house on Kommunarov Street, 222a. He was shot in the stomach. However, he managed to actively resist the attackers. Business partners’ reciprocal claims are being considered a motive for the crime. Styazhkin was a loan guarantor of Vladimir Tumaev’s company. The latter bought a right of demand from the bank and applied to the court. Funds were recovered from Vadim Styazhkin only. Vladimir Tumaev pleads not guilty.
Aqua business on Baikal. Chinese people to drink the unique lake to the lees? What does this have to do with Deripaska?
Following a request from the West-Baikal Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor's Office, the Kirovsky District Court of Irkutsk has suspended the construction of a water bottling plant in Kultuk township, Slyudyanka district, pending the rectification of defects identified in the course of the inspection. The construction has been put on hold; the court has to make the final decision in two months. In the meantime, public activists and environmentalists are ringing alarm bells. An all-Russia public rally to protect Lake Baikal is scheduled to March 24; its program includes collection of signatures against the plant construction by AquaSib company belonging to Chinese investors. A day after the court decision, a fire occurred on Talovskie swamps in Kultuk – it must be noted that the main claims brought against the project owners pertain to these swamps. The CrimeRussia was figuring out what threats does the project pose to the lake and local environment, how was it approved, whether a ‘water competition’ is possible in the region, and what has oligarch Oleg Deripaska to do with this?
