Moldova Appeals Chamber confirmed arrest of Renato Usatii
The Moldova Appeals Chamber rejected request of the Head of Our Party Renato Usatii’s lawyers. They protested provisional arrest of the politician and announcement about his inclusion in the wanted list.
"Judges considered arguments of the lawyers, who insisted on cancellation of the decision to place their client under provisional arrest, not convincing," - the Prosecutor Vitalie Busuioc said.
Prosecution of Usatii, who is charged with attempted murder of Russian banker German Gorbuntsov, is to be continued. Lawyers of the politician assured public that they intend "to insist on changing the measure of restraint for the defendant."
"Law enforcement agencies summoned Usatii for questioning several times, which is confirmed with the documents, but he did not appear. The politician is to be put in Chisinau penitentiary number 13"- the Prosecutor's Office announced.
Usatii’s lawyer Ivan Cherga said "his client will not return to Moldova until illegal actions in relation to him stop."
