Investigative Committee enhances case on attempted assassination of Avraam Russo. Telman Ismailov - prime suspect
At the present time, the former owner of Cherkizon (Moscow’s Cherkizovsky Market) is believed to be hiding in Montenegro.
According to The CrimeRussia sources, Russian Investigative Committee enhanced the case on 2006 attempted assassination of a pop-singer Avraam Russo. Former owner of Moscow Cherkizovsky Market Telman Ismailov is a prime suspect in the killing. At the present time, he is put on the wanted list on charges of plotting two murders in Russia (items (a, g, d), part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and part 3 of Article 222).
The assassination occurred on the night of August 18 to 19. Unknown persons opened fire on his car with an AKS-74U rifle on Moscow’s Burdenko Street. The vehicle was driven by the singer himself. His bodyguard was in the car, as well. Russo got a gunshot to his thigh, shin and lower back, however, managed to speed up and flee out of the gunfire.
The Moscow Prosecutor's Office in Khamovniki District opened a criminal case of Attempted Murder (articles 30 and 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The Investigation had several theories of the crime including personal enmity and conflict in commercial activities. It is noteworthy that Russo had been assaulted before 2006 - in 2004, he was attacked by a group of persons in the courtyard of his house, forced into a car and taken a few kilometers. Beaten, he was dumped out of the car.
After the first attempted assassination, in his interview with Voronezh-based newspaper Efir-365, Russo explained that it could be his producer who had expected more profits from Russo’s activities. According to some reports, the singer was sponsored by Telman Ismailov who invested 2.5 million rubles ($36.6 thousand) to the project. At one point, Ismailov figured that the money is being wasted. It was him who was thought to be responsible for the organization of both crimes.
At present, Ismailov is hiding in Montenegro where he lives in a rented villa. According to The CrimeRussia sources, the oligarch arranged with Montenegro authorities about his non-extradition to Russia. Ismailov is accused of the organization of murders of two entrepreneurs. He was charged on November 11, 2017. He is being searched by Interpol.
