Former colleague of TV host Vlad Listyev reveals mastermind behind his murder
The reason for the crime was a moratorium on advertising on the channel by third-party firms.
Dmitry Zakharov, the Russian and Soviet correspondent and TV presenter who worked with Vladislav Listyev at the Vzglyad program, told in his interview to mixtv about the possible reasons for the murder of Vladislav Listyev and disclosed the name of the mastermind.
Zakharov stated that the murder of the TV host is related to a moratorium on advertising by third-party firms. According to the rules, only the TV channel could engage in advertising contracts, and it receives all the revenue, without any intermediaries. According to Zakharov, it was about a quarter of a billion dollars a year. So, following this line of reasoning, "only one person suffered damage." This is "a well-known person who was found hanged in London," said Zakharov, apparently hinting at runaway oligarch Boris Berezovsky.
The journalist also stressed that Listyev received threat calls, but he did not appeal to the Prosecutor's Office or the FSB. The callers demanded to cancel the moratorium, which the presenter could not do, as he was just the nominal director general of the channel.
